2014 ASU Lady Red Wolf Classic Final Results
JONESBORO, Ark. - Freshman Erica Lautensack became the first golfer in Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack program history to capture an individual tournament title, leading the Ladyjacks to a runner-up finish at the 2014 Arkansas State Lady Red Wolf Invitational.
It was a record-setting performance for Lautensack, who concluded the weather-delayed first round with an even-par 72 Tuesday morning. The freshman then tied a program record with a 3-under 69 in round two, shooting a 3-under 141 for the event, setting a new SFA record for lowest 36-hole tournament score and winning the tournament by four strokes. It was the first top-10 finish of her career, posting a top-20 showing in each of the last three tournaments for the Ladyjacks.
Playing the completion of round one this morning after weather postponed the tournament Monday, the Ladyjacks carded a 22-over 310 in round one, good enough for second place just one shot back of host Arkansas State. SFA then shot a 17-over 305 in round two, closing out the tournament with a 39-over 615 and maintaining its runner-up position.
Junior Mackenzie Steiner finished with the best showing of her Ladyjack career as well, posting a 5-over 149 (74-75) and tying for fourth in the individual standings, the third-best individual showing in program history.
Junior Sydney Reed, competing as an individual, shot a 9-over 153 (74-79) to finish 11th overall with freshman Jamee Jorgensen notching the first top-20 showing of her career as well. Jorgensen posted a 15-over 159 (81-78), tying for 18th individually as SFA finished with four golfers among the top-20.
Sophomore Jessica White shot a 23-over 167 (83-84) while sophomore Courtney Ford carded a 26-over 170 (87-83) to round out the Ladyjack scorecard.
SFA finished six shots back of host Arkansas State (33-over 609), tying the program record for the best team finish and matching the Ladyjacks' second-place showing at the Hal Sutton Invitational in 2011. SFA finished five shots ahead of third-place Southern Illinois (44-over 620) with Louisiana-Monroe (52-over 628) and McLennan C.C. (55-over 631) rounding out the top-five.
SFA now looks to take this momentum into the final tournament of the fall season, heading to San Antonio for the Incarnate Word Fall Invitational. The 54-hole event gets underway with rounds one and two on Monday, Oct. 27, before wrapping up on Tuesday, Oct. 28.
