
McLeroy Unable to Advance at U.S. Amateur Championships

Former Lumberjack Mitchell McLeroy advanced to the round of 32 at the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championships before bowing out to Justin Shin in 20 holes Thursday afternoon at the Laurel Hill Golf Club in Lorton, Va.
McLeroy was 2 up and appeared to be in control of the match heading to the 15th hole. He recorded a bogey on the par five, while Shinn recorded a par. The score remained 1 up heading to the 18th and final hole where Shin birdied to even things up.
The match was decided two holes later. After both players were even on the 19th, Shin recorded a birdie on the 20th to edge out McLeroy.
