After playing near flawless golf for two rounds, senior Mitchell McLeroy struggled in the third and final round of the NCAA Regional Championships firing a 13-over 85 on the par-72, Blessings Course, in Fayetteville, Ark. McLeroy finished with a three-round 69-71-85 - 225 to place tied for 26th overall.
McLeroy's final-round score was costly dropping him out of a first-place tie. After recording only six bogeys in the first two rounds, McLeroy recorded seven bogeys, and three doubles Saturday. McLeroy entered the day four-under par, but watched his lead evaporate by going seven over on the first five holes of the day.
McLeroy concludes his SFA career becoming the first Lumberjack to earn a trip to the NCAA Regional Championships in back-to-back seasons in the NCAA Division I era.
