
`Jacks Finish Fourth at SLC Championships

MCKINNEY, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack men's golf team fired a 312 in the closing round on the par-72, 7,346-yard Stonebridge Country Club in McKinney, Texas, to take fourth place Wednesday at the 50th annual Southland Conference Championships.
SFA carded a 313-307-312 - 932, highlighted by sophomore Blake Pugh. The Southlake, Texas, native fired a four-over 76 in his final round to hold onto a share of 12th place. Pugh, after struggling in the opening round, carded two of the three lowest rounds recorded by the `Jacks over the final two days.
Freshman Major Monzingo and Luke Sheehan finished one stroke back of Pugh to share 15th place. Monzingo fired a tournament low 76 on the final day, while Sheehan repeated his second round score with another 79.
Bradley Phelps had a tough final round, taking an 82 for a share of 25th.
Austin DeWitt, who joined the team on day two in place of Mitchell McLeroy, carded an 81 in his second round of play. McLeroy did not participate in the tournament due to illness.
