Lumberjack Golf Places Ninth at Border Olympics

LAREDO, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's golf team carded a 297 Saturday morning to finish ninth at the Border Olympics in Laredo, Texas. SFA finished the two-day tournament with a three-round 298-299-297 - 894 on the 7,125-yard, par-72 Laredo Country Club course.
After struggling in the second round, senior Mitchell McLeroy returned to form Saturday firing an even-par 72 to finish among the overall top five. McLeroy shot a 216 to finish tied for fifth.
Sophomore Blake Pugh was unable to keep the same pace from the opening two rounds, and finished the weekend with a five-over 77. He fell into a tie for 23rd with his three-round 222. Sophomore Cody Wing was tied for 59th with his 80-77-74 - 231. Freshman Luke Sheehan closed out the scoring for the 'Jacks with a two-over 74. He finished tied for 61st only two strokes back of Wing.
The Lumberjacks will be back in action Monday, Mar. 25, when they travel to Little Rock, Ark., to compete in the UALR Collegiate Classic.
