
Ladyjacks In Third Place At Missouri

KANSAS CITY, MO. - The No. 13/9 Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks bowling team got off to a solid start at the Central Missouri Women's Intercollegiate Invitational on Friday, going 3-1 overall and sit in third place overall with a 5023 total pinfall. Friday marked the first live competition for SFA since the Prairie View A&M Invitational back on Feb. 1-3.
SFA (53-30) defeated two nationally ranked teams in the five-game Baker format matches, including No. 6 Wisconsin-Whitewater (55-24) by a score of 969-873 in the fifth and final match of the day. The Ladyjacks began in the morning by knocking off No. 15 Valparaiso (46-47), 1010-871. SFA also added another victory against Louisiana Tech by the score of, 954-858.
The Ladyjacks lone loss came against No. 3 Nebraska (1086-1024), who went a perfect 5-0 in competition on Friday and stand alone in first place entering play on Saturday with a total pinfall of 5199. Fourth-ranked Arkansas State is the only other team ahead of SFA, sitting in second place with a total pinfall of 5041, just 18 pins ahead of SFA.
SFA also participated in a unopposed match since due to an uneven amount of teams this weekend and totaled a days-best 1066.
Other teams competing in the tournament are No. 1 Central Missouri, No. 5 Vanderbilt, No. 8 Sam Houston State, Alabama-Birmingham and Elmhurst College.
The Ladyjacks will be back in action on Saturday when they begin the five-person team matches beginning at 9 a.m. Competition in Missouri will come to a conclusion on Sunday with match play in the best 4-of-7 matches starting at 8 a.m.
