Lumberjacks Tied For Fourth After Day One

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's golf team fired an opening round 287 Monday morning at the SHSU Harold Funston Invitational. The Lumberjacks closed the day with a second round 301 to finish tied for fourth heading in to Tuesday's final round.
SFA was led by sophomore Luke Sheehan who fired the team's low rounds of the day, finishing tied for fourth with a two-over par 144. Sheehan, who fired a career-low 68 to open the tournament, will enter the final day looking to grab the first top-five finish of his career.
Juniors Bradley Phelps (70-76) and Austin DeWitt (73-73) fired identical scores of 146 to finish the day tied for 18th.
Junior Cody Wing fired back-to-back rounds of 76 to finish day one tied for 33rd. Junior Blake Pugh (77-77 - 154) finished just two strokes off Wing's pace, and is tied for 35th heading into Tuesday's final round.
The Lumberjacks return to action Tuesday morning looking to record their first top-three finish of the season.
