McDermand Named Assistant Athletics Director

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Rob McDermand has been promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Academic Services announced Stephen F. Austin Director of Athletics Robert Hill Tuesday morning.
"We are happy to make this change in Rob's status in response to his outstanding work over the past year," said Hill. "He has advanced our student-athlete academic services to a much higher level. We are already seeing the results of his work with higher team grade-point averages and graduation numbers."
McDermand, who originally came to SFA as the Director of Athletic Academic Services, is in his second year with the athletics department. McDermand oversees the academic services for all of SFA's 17 varsity sports, and works directly with the Lumberjack football team.
Academic services handles every aspect of academic eligibility throughout an athlete's career from initial eligibility to progress toward a degree.
