Ladyjacks Climb a Spot on Final Day

SUGAR LAND, Texas -
The Stephen F. Austin women’s golf team finished 10th at the HBU Husky Invitational Tuesday afternoon in Sugar Land. The Ladyjacks, who were 11th after the first two rounds of action, rallied to finish 10th overall with a three-day score of 328-337-322 – 887.
Chelsea Simmons led the team firing a 78-82-82 – 242 and finished 29th overall. Rose Marie Henderson also fired an 82 in the third round, to finish the tournament with a 251. Sophomore Aliece Anderson fired an 80 in the third round and finishing with 252 to place 50th overall. Anderson was one of three Ladyjacks to record an 80 on the final day. Allison Flake and Sarah Jones also fired an 80 with Flake finishing 253 (tied for 51st) and Jones was a stroke back with a 87-87-80 – 254.
The HBU Husky Invitational was the team’s final tune-up before the Southland Conference Championships in Houston. The SLC tournament is slated to begin Monday, March 16th.
