'Jacks Finish Fourth at SLC Championships

McKINNEY, Texas - Junior Mitchell McLeroy paced the Stephen F. Austin men's golf team, recording the team's only top-ten finish, in the 49th annual Southland Conference Golf Championships at the Stonebridge Ranch Country Club. The Lumberjacks carded a 298-303-313 - 914 to take fourth overall in the final day of competition Wednesday in McKinney, Texas.
McLeroy struggled in the closing round recording a seven-over 79, his worst round over the three-day tournament, as he finished in a four-way tie for seventh overall. Senior Stetson McMillan mirrored McLeroy, with a 79. The Hideaway native finished in a three-way tie for 25th overall carding a 17-over par 233.
Senior Michael Smith overcame a tough final round to post the team's second-lowest round. Smith finished his career with a 229 to finished tied for 16th overall.
Freshman Blake Pugh bounced back from a tough second round to lead the `Jacks in the final round recording a three-over 75. The Southlake native improved eight strokes from his second round on Tuesday to finish in a two-way tie for 20th overall.
Cody Wing rounded out the field for SFA, carding a 80-81-89 - 250 to finished in a two-way tied for 46th.
