HOUMA, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team fired a 291-303 - 594 to finish the first day fourth at the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate in Houma, La. SFA was one of only four teams to card a sub-600 score on the 7,104-yard, par-72 course.
SFA fired two sub par rounds in the morning. Junior Mitchel McLeroy and senior Stetson McMillan shot a one-under 71 Monday, but McLeroy leads SFA with a one-under 143 after the two rounds. He is currently tied for fourth, while McMillan is 13th at four over par.
Freshman Blake Pugh finished the day only three strokes back of McMillan. He is currently tied for 16th overall with a 75-76 - 151. Classmate Austin DeWitt is tied for 20th after his opening day 152. Freshman Cody Wing has some ground to make up after carding an 88-81 - 169 to place tied for 54th.
SFA will close out the Carter Plantation Invitational Tuesday morning by teeing off at 8 a.m. on the front nine.
