Anderson Battling for Individual Title at Monterey Bay Invite

MONTEREY, Calif. - Sophomore Aliece Anderson carded an opening-round five-over par 77 (T5th) to lead Stephen F. Austin to a ninth-place finish heading into Monday's final round of action at the Monterey Bay Invitational in Monterey, Calif. The Ladyjacks shot a 329 on the 6,018-yard, par 72 Del Monte Golf Course.
Junior Allison Flake is only four strokes back of Anderson with her first-day score of 81. Flake is currently tied for 26th overall. The Ladyjacks will be looking for a strong second round from a trio of players to climb in the team standings in Tuesday's final round of action. Chelsea Simmons is tied for 47th with an 85, while Rose Henderson is tied for 54th only a stroke back of Simmons. Sara Jones is currently 77th overall with a 95 on the opening day of competition.
The Ladyjacks will conclude play in the two-round invitational Tuesday morning.
