
SFA Bowling Beats No. 1 Fairleigh Dickinson, No. 4 Vanderbilt

SMYRNA, TN - After one day of competition, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks bowling team finds themselves in fourth place at the annual Columbia 300 Music City Classic hosted by Vanderbilt.
The No. 10 Ladyjacks (56-45) went 4-2 in their six, 4-game Baker matches, defeating No. 1 FDU, No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 16 Wisconsin-Whitewater and Louisiana Tech. The Ladyjacks dropped two matches to No. 9 Sam Houston State.
With a 4,587 total pinfall, SFA trails only Central Missouri (4,817), Arkansas State (4,775) and Sam Houston (4,592).
SFA started the day with a bang, taking down the top team in the nation in Fairleigh Dickinson, 775-660. Then following a narrow (780-768) loss to SHSU, the Ladyjacks bounced back to beat another Top-5 team in Vanderbilt, 730-720.
Next, the Ladyjacks won their second straight match with a 816-783 victory over SFA head coach Amber Lemke's former squad, Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Bearkats again took down the Ladyjacks 754-693 before SFA finished the day in winning fashion with a 805-629 triumph over Louisiana Tech.
SFA will be back in action tomorrow at 11 a.m. for six traditional team games. The tournament has nine of the nation's Top 10 and 15 of the Top 20 teams competing.
