Stephen Named SLC Female Athlete of the Week

FRISCO, Texas - Sophomore hurdler Chelsea Stephen was named Southland Conference Female Athlete of the Week announced league officials Monday afternoon. It is the first weekly honor Stephen has record during the 2012 season.
Stephen put an exclamation point on a successful meet at the J.D. Martin/OU Invitational in Norman, Okla., Saturday afternoon with her performance in the 60-meter hurdles. She clocked a time of 8.45 seconds to win the event and set a new school record. It was one of seven individual titles for the SFA men and women over the weekend, and kept a string of consecutive meets with a school record performance intact. SFA has now set at least one school record in the first four meets of the indoor season.
The SFA men and women will look to continue that streak Friday when they return to Norman to open the Southland Conference Indoor Championships. The two-day event will begin with the opening events of the pentathlon and heptathlon competitions.
