VICTORIA, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin women's golf team fired a 317 Monday afternoon, improving by 23 strokes from its round-two score to finish 14th overall at the Claud Jacobs Invitational at the Victoria Country Club in Victoria, Texas. The Ladyjacks finished the invitational with a two-day, three-round score of 337-340-317 - 994.
The Ladyjacks were placed in the unenviable position of being one of just a few teams that were forced to finish the second round of play Monday, before opening the third round of action.
Sophomore Aliece Anderson recorded one of the lowest rounds of the tournament in Monday's final round carding a seven-over par 77 to finish tied for 33rd overall. She led the team with a 79-86-77 - 242. Junior Chelsea Simmons was only five strokes back with a three-day 247. Simmons was tied for 52nd overall.
Sophomore Sara Jones bounced back from a tough second round to record the team's lowest round of the week. She posted an 85-90-75 - 250 to finish tied for 58th overall. Junior Allison Flake finished tied for 68th with a 89-87-81 - 257. Sophomore Rose Henderson closed out the scoring for SFA with her 87-90-92 - 269 (80th).
SFA returns to action Monday, Feb. 27, when they travel to Corpus Christi, Texas, to compete in the Islander Classic.
