SFA Golf Season Opener Cut Short

FORT WORTH, Texas - For the second time in less than a week, Stephen F. Austin has had an athletics contest cut short. Just three days after the Lumberjack football team had its game at No. 19 Baylor cut short due to lightning, the men's golf team had the third round of UTA/Waterchase Invitational canceled Tuesday morning due to an infestation of bees. Monday's results following the first two rounds of play will be the official final results.
After struggling in the opening round of the tournament, SFA battled back to cut eight strokes off its scorecard in the second round. SFA finishes the tournament with a 307-299--606 to place 13th overall. The 'Jacks were led by junior Mitchell McLeroy who fired an even par 144 (74-70) to place tied for sixth overall.
The Lumberjacks return to action Monday, Oct. 3, when they travel to Monroe, La., to compete in the Louisiana Tech/Squire Creek Invitational.
