PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior offensive linemen George Bias and junior return specialist Gralyn Crawford have been named to the Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Preseason All-America team announced FCS Executive Director Craig Haley Friday morning. Crawford is a first-team selection as a kick returner, while Bias garnered third-team honors.
Crawford was a dual threat for the Lumberjacks last season. He led the Southland Conference with 74 receptions, and was among the nation's leaders averaging better than 28 yards per kick return. Crawford returned three kicks for touchdowns during his sophomore season. In the second game of the 2010 campaign, Crawford put all of his skills on display. Crawford caught a pass for a touchdown, and returned a kick and a punt for a score.
Bias returns as the anchor of one of the strongest offensive fronts in the nation. Over the course of the past two seasons, SFA has led the nation in passing offense, while at the same time finishing among the nation's leaders in pass protection. The Lumberjacks surrendered only 13 sacks in 2010, despite putting the ball in the air more than 600 times. A two-time All-Southland Conference selection, Bias started all 12 games at left tackle last season and graded out at 92 percent.
The Lumberjacks are slated to kick off the 2011 season Thursday, Sept. 1, when they host McMurry. The game against McMurry is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Homer Bryce Stadium.
