Junior receivers Gralyn Crawford and Cordell Roberson have been named 2011 Consensus Draft Services Preseason All-Americans announced publication officials Monday afternoon. Crawford garnered first-team recognition as a return specialist, while Crawford and Roberson both received honorable mention honors at receiver.
Crawford was considered one of the top return specialists in the nation last season returning three kicks and one a punt for a touchdown. A national special teams player of the week selection, Crawford was a first-team all-conference honoree and was named to several All-America squads after averaging better than 28 yards per return in 2010. In the home opener against Albany, Crawford caught a pass for a touchdown, and returned a punt and a kick for a score.
Roberson earned first-team all-conference honors, and received second-team Sports Network All-America honors following a season that saw him finish second on the team with 61 catches for 1,011 yards. Roberson led the nation with 16 touchdown receptions last season.
The receiver tandem combined to give SFA one of the strongest one-two punches in the nation, at any level. The duo combined to catch 135 catches for 1,992 yards and 20 touchdowns. Both players enter their junior years on the verge of cracking the school's top 10 in several different categories.
The Lumberjacks open the 2011 campaign Thursday, Sept. 1 when they host McMurry. The game against McMurry is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Homer Bryce Stadium.
