
Shazhko Named SLC Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas - Junior tennis player Alina Shazhko has been named Southland Conference Player of the Week announced league officials Tuesday afternoon. It marks the third time this season a Ladyjack has received the honor, and the second time Shazhko has been named.
A native of Simferopol, Ukraine, Shazhko guided the Ladyjacks to a 2-1 record on the week. SFA recorded a 7-0 victory at Grambling State, before returning home to host Texas State in a conference tilt over the weekend. SFA recorded a thrilling 4-3 victory over the Bobcats to improve to 16-1 on the season. The Ladyjacks closed out the week with a tough loss at the hands of No. 69 Texas-Arlington, but Shazko stayed perfect throughout the week winning all six of her matches, including a three-set win over UTA's top player.
Shazko played the No. 1 singles and doubles positions in all three matches. She is currently 15-2 on the season, and has won five straight and nine of her last 10.
The Ladyjacks return to action Saturday when they will host Northwestern State. The match against the Lady Demons is slated to begin at 10 a.m., from the Schlief Tennis Complex.
