NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Julia Lorca has signed a National Letter of Intent to play tennis, and further her education at Stephen F. Austin announced tennis head coach Patrick Sullivan Tuesday morning.
"We are very excited to being adding a player of Julia's ability to our roster," said Sullivan. "She is one of the best players in France, and we're thrilled to be able to have her join our team. The Southland Conference has a proud tradition of French tennis players, and Julia is one of the highest-ranked ever to play in it.
"Julia has extremely sound fundamentals and understands how to play the game. She is tall and hits a big ball, but also moves extremely well, and that combination is going to win her a lot of matches and give opponents a lot of headaches. She will play high in the lineup and have an immediate impact on our team," said Sullivan.
Lorca comes to Nacogdoches from Lyon, France, where she was one of the country's top-ranked junior players. She has been listed as high as the 14th open-ranked player in France. Lorca chose SFA over Washington who is ranked No. 28 in the latest ITA national team rankings.
Lorca joins Elena Kordolaimi, Malena Gordo and Nataly Yoo who signed with SFA early this month.
