SFA Closes Regular Season with a Win

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team closed out the 2011 regular season with a 6-1 win at UTSA Sunday afternoon. The Ladyjacks enter the Southland Conference Championships with a program best 19-4 overall record, and a 7-4 conference mark.
The Ladyjacks won the doubles' point after taking victories at the Nos. 1 and 3 doubles' positions. SFA increased its lead to 2-0 when senior Andreea Enica defeated UTSA's Katie Ottenbreit, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 5 singles. The Ladyjacks went on to win the next three singles' matches to build a 5-0 lead before UTSA cracked the scoreboard. Senior Alina Shazhko closed out the win with a 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, win over Stefanie Peana at No. 1 singles.
The Ladyjacks will return to action Friday, April 29th, to compete in the opening round of the 2011 SLC Championships in San Antonio, Texas. The tournament bracket has not yet been released.
