VICTORIA, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team fired a nine-over par 297 Sunday afternoon in the opening-round of the Jim West Intercollegiate Invitational at the Victoria Country Club. The Lumberjacks enter Monday's second round only 10 strokes off the lead.
SFA is being led by junior Stetson McMillan and sophomore Mitchell McLeroy who carded a one-over 73. The duo is tied for 11th overall. Longview, Texas native Jason Fiscus was just two strokes back of McMillan and McLeroy. He is currently tied for 24th overall. Senior Kyle Robbins carded the team's fourth-lowest score with his four-over 76. Robbins enters Monday's round of action tied for 31st overall. Senior Ricky Wilkenfeld struggled in the opening round with a seven-over 79. He is currently tied for 56th overall.
SFA returns to action Monday for the second round of action in the Jim West Intercollegiate. The tournament is being played on the par-72 6,870-yard Victoria Country Club course.
