NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team return to action Saturday looking to extend their record this weekend when they host Texas State and UT Arlington. Led by junior, Alina Shazhko at No. 1 singles, the Ladyjacks are currently 15-1 overall and 4-1 Southland Conference play on the season. The Ladyjacks set a new program record earlier this season when they won their 15th match of the season.
SFA begins the weekend when they host Texas State Saturday. Texas State is currently 2-3 in conference play. The match is set to begin at 10 a.m. from the Schlief Tennis Complex.
The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis program has been chosen by the United States Tennis Association to host a Campus Kids' Day. SFA will be hosting the event Saturday, April 2, against Texas State. Children will receive free pizza and drinks, which will be served at noon, and will also have the opportunity to hit tennis balls with their favorite Ladyjack player following the match.
Campus Kids' Day is designed to get more junior tennis players on college campuses at a young age, while at the same time exposing them to the fun and excitement of collegiate tennis. The event's main goal is to help fill the stands, while at the same time build stronger relationships between college programs and the community.
The Ladyjacks host the undefeated UT Arlington Mavericks on Sunday. The Maverick's record is currently 6-0 and they are No.1 in the SLC standings. The match is slated to begin at 11 a.m. from the Schief Tennis Complex.
