The Stephen F. Austin men's golf team finished first at the Hal Sutton Invitation in Shreveport, La. Tuesday afternoon, while the Ladyjacks recorded their highest finish in team history.
Led by sophomore Mitchell McLeroy, the Lumberjacks carded a final 292-297-281 - 870 to win the tournament. McLeroy recorded an impressive 71-72-71 - 214 to finish second overall, while seniors Ricky Wilkenfeld and Kyle Robbins tied for fourth in the individual standings with 71-75-72 - 218 and 72-74-72 - 218 scores, respectively.
The Ladyjacks recorded a final 314-326-311 - 951 to take second place. Freshman Marissa Bransburg carded a noteworthy 80-80-73 - 233 to finish sixth overall, while senior Noelle Willcoxon finished six strokes behind with a 76-81-82 - 230 to finish eighth in the individual standings. Sophomore Chelsea Simmons placed ninth overall with an 83-82-75 - 240, while teammate Allison Flake recorded a 75-85-81 - 241 to finish among the overall top 10.
The Lumberjacks will return to action next set to tee off on Monday, April 4th in the Branson Creek Invitation. The women's team will be competing in the HBU Women's Invitational in Missouri City, Texas on the same day.
