
SFA Finishes Ninth At Music City Classic

SMYRNA, Tenn. - Stephen F. Austin went 3-0 in bracket play Sunday to finish ninth at the Music City Classic. The Ladyjacks knocked off Saint Francis, Wisconsin Whitewater and Adelphi in best-of-seven baker matches to go from 11th to ninth on the final day of the tournament.
SFA opened play with a 4-2 win over national No. 15 team Saint Francis. The Ladyjacks took the first two games, 202-174 and 188-155. Saint Francis came back with a pair of wins, but SFA closed out the match with victories in the last two games, winning the fifth, 186-161, and the sixth, 177-168.
The Ladyjacks dropped their first two games against No. 18 Wisconsin Whitewater before rattling off four straight wins to take the match. After rolling a 157 in the second game, SFA put up a 191 for the win in Game 3 and steadily improved its total over the final three games. The Ladyjacks bowled a 201 in the fourth, a 210 in the fifth and a 215 in the decisive sixth game.
That win matched SFA with No. 12 Adelphi in the final match of the day. The Ladyjacks took the first game, 174-155, but dropped the next two to fall behind, 2-1. SFA came back for a 199-179 decision in the fourth game to square the match but fell back again with a 269-207 loss in the fifth. The Ladyjacks came up with a close 162-156 decision in Game 6 to force a seventh game, then took a 246-201 verdict to seal the win.
