Lumberjack Golf Unable to Climb Out of 11th at UTSA

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Despite three solid rounds to start the 2011 spring season, the Stephen F. Austin men's golf team could not climb higher than 11th at the UTSA Oak Hills Invitational Tuesday afternoon in San Antonio. The Lumberjacks finished the par 71, 6,765-yard course with a three-round score of 297-290-299 - 886 at the Oak Hills Country Club.
After entering the day two over par, sophomore Mitchell McLeroy shot a five-over 76 to finish the tournament tied for 30th overall with a 220. Junior Stetson McMillan was just one stroke off McLeroy's team-best score. McMillan finished the three-round tournament with a 73-75-73 - 221 to place tied for 34th overall.
After struggling in the opening round, senior Kyle Robbins battled back to go two over in the final two rounds. He finished the tournament tied for 36th overall with a 222. Classmate Richard Wilkenfeld faltered on the final day carding a six-over par 77 to finish tied for 41st with a 223. Longview freshman Jason Fiscus finished tied for 94th overall with a 243.
The Lumberjacks return to action Sunday, March 13, when they travel to Ruston, La., to compete in the Bulldog Classic.
