
Ladyjacks Go 5-0 In New Jersey

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. - The Stephen F. Austin women’s bowling team sits in sixth place after day one of the 2011 NJ Jamboree where the Ladyjacks went a perfect 5-0 in quad-Baker matches.
The Ladyjacks(12-6) began the day with a quad-Baker match against Long Island. SFA bowled games of 172, 166, 148 and 191 for a total of 719 and the win. The Blackbirds accumulated a total score of 626 with games of 155, 179, 156 and 182.
In match two the Ladyjacks took on Kutztown. SFA had their lowest total score of the day but still managed to squeak out a win against the No. 8 ranked Golden Bears, 677-665, with games of 158, 171, 203 and 202.
Match three pitted SFA against the St. Francis, NY. SFA began with a 188 but finished strong with scores of 236, 217 and 222 to take down the No. 16 ranked Terriers 734-666.
SFA took on the host Fairleigh Dickinson Knights and the Ladyjacks won 863-773, the highest score of the afternoon for SFA, who put together games of 224, 213, 161 and 213.
In the final match of the day, SFA went up against former Ladyjacks head coach Amber Lemke’s University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The Ladyjacks defeated the Warhawks 811-747 to complete the perfect day of competition.
Vanderbilt led the 18-team tournament at Parkway Lanes with a total pinfall of 3,978. FDU compiled a total pinfall of 3,929k over five quad-Baker matches.
SFA was set to take on Morgan State, Monmouth, Adelphi, St. Francis and Sacred Heart on Saturday.
