
`Jacks Finish Second After Opening Day

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's golf team completed the first two rounds at the HBU Husky Intercollegiate Monday afternoon. The Lumberjacks finished the first day in second place after carding a 288-292--580.
Junior Mitchell McLeroy led the `Jacks with a solid opening round, firing a 68-72--140 finished in a tie for 6th place at the end of the first day of play. Two strokes back from McLeroy was junior transfer Jeff Hageman who finished the day in eighth place.
Senior teammate Jared Johnson carded a 73 in the second round to put him in a tie for 24th, while freshman newcomer Blake Pugh fired two strokes back from Johnson to finish in a tie for 29th. Senior Michael Smith carded a 74-78--152 to finish in a tie for 33rd after the second round.
The `Jacks return to the 6, 931 yard, par 71 course Tuesday morning to close out the third and final round of the HBU Husky Intercollegiate. Tee times are slated to being at 8 a.m.
