Freshman Jeff Hageman carded a three-under 69 in the final round of the Lone Star Invitational at the Briggs Ranch Golf Course to lead Stephen F. Austin (297-296-302 - 895) to a 12th-place finish Tuesday afternoon. It marked the first time in Hageman's young career that he has recorded the team's lowest score. Hageman finished tied for 12th overall with a three-round 218.
Junior Mitchell McLeroy posted the squad's second-lowest score with a three-day 75-70-77 - 222. McLeroy was tied for 31st overall. Senior Michael Smith shot a two-over 74 Tuesday to finish tied with McLeroy.
After a solid first two days in San Antonio, freshman Blake Pugh struggled on the final day, but still managed to place among the team's top four (75-76-82 - 233), and was 72nd overall. Classmate Chase Webb rounded out the day with an 82-80-89 - 251 to finish 84th overall.
The Lumberjacks will close out the fall schedule Monday in Houston, Texas, at the HBU Husky Classic.
