Lumberjacks Place 14th in Season Opener

ARLINGTON, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin men's golf team had a tough season opening tournament finishing 13th overall at the UTA/Waterchase Invitational Tuesday in Arlington, Texas.
After a struggle in the first two rounds of the tournament Monday, the Lumberjacks fought hard and climbed the leader board one spot. Junior Stetson McMillan led the `Jacks firing a 72-73-74-219 tying for 24th overall. Sophomore Mitchell McLeroy was only two strokes behind McMillan scoring a 75 in the third round putting him in a tie for 37th place overall. Senior Kyle Robbins saved his best for last carding a 76-78-74-228. He finished 67th overall in the tournament.
Sophomore Austin Green finished the tournament tied for 74th carding an 80-73-76-229 while redshirt freshman Jason Fiscus scored 86-76-78-240 landing him in a tie for 93rd overall in the tournament.
The Lumberjacks return to competition on Sept. 22 when they travel to Tulsa, Okla., to compete in the ORU Shootout.
