It is the second preseason honor from the Sports Network for both athletes this season. Moses was named to the Walter Payton Award Watch list and Williams is on the Buck Buchanan Award Watch List.
One of the Southland Conference's leading tacklers, Williams recorded another outstanding season for the 'Jacks in 2009. He finished second on the team with 87 tackles, including 6.5 tackles for losses and one sack. A two-time All-American, Williams helped lead a resurgent SFA defense that was one of the toughest in the nation.
Williams, who led the conference in tackles following his sophomore season, led a defense that was one of the most improved in the country. The Lumberjacks finished the season ranked sixth in the country in sacks, and 18th in tackles for a losses.
Moses was the highest vote-getter among the returning players named the Payton Award Watch list. A preseason All-America selection, Moses closed out his junior campaign earning Southland Conference Player of the Year honors. The 2009 campaign saw him complete 68 percent of his passes for 4,124 yards and 40 touchdowns.
Despite having one year of eligibility remaining Moses already owns the schools career marks for completions, touchdown passes, passing yards and total offense. He is on pace to graduate as the conference's all-time leader in all four categories, as well as finishing among the nation's all-time top 10.
The Lumberjacks will begin their campaign for a second consecutive conference title Saturday, Sept. 4, when they travel to College Station, Texas, to take on Texas A&M. The game against the Aggies is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Kyle Field.
