NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Three more Lumberjacks have offers from NFL franchises. Receivers Aaron Rhea and Contrevious Parks have signed free agent deals, while offensive lineman Karl Glimp received an invite from the Cleveland Browns. Rhea signed a free agent deal with the Minnesota Vikings, while Parks is headed to camp with the Detroit Lions.
"The Browns contacted me and said they wanted to take a look at me," said Glimp. "Since I didn't get to participate in all the drills on pro day, they wanted to get a better look at what I can do.
"It felt great to receive the call from the Browns. I feel blessed to have this opportunity. An opportunity is all anyone can ask for. Plenty of undrafted guys have made it as free agents signees in the NFL," added Glimp.
Glimp wrapped up his senior season as one of the top offensive linemen in the country. A four-year starter on the offensive line, Glimp earned first-team All-SLC honors in 2009. During his career, Glimp never missed a start playing in 47 consecutive games. He closed out his career by earning College Sporting News Fabulous Fifty All-America honors.
A two-time honorable mention All-SLC selection, Rhea leaves SFA as one of the school's all-time receivers. Rhea hauled in 142 receptions for 1,818 yards and 19 touchdowns during his career. He finished among the school's all-time top 10 in receptions and touchdown receptions, and recorded the school's fourth-best single-season mark with 59 catches this past season.
Parks received all-conference recognition each of his past two seasons. A second-team All-SLC selection as a receiver and return specialist this past season, Parks garnered honorable mention All-America recognition after his junior season. A versatile athlete, Parks spent his sophomore season playing both receiver and corner due to injuries in the Lumberjack secondary. Parks caught 104 passes for 1,147 yards and 11 touchdowns during his career.
Along with defensive end Tim Knicky (Green Bay Packers), the Lumberjacks have had four players receive attention from NFL franchises in 2010. San Augustine, Texas native, Dominique Edison was a sixth-round draft choice of the Tennessee Titans in 2009.
