NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team will step on the field one final time Saturday evening to close out the spring. SFA will host its annual spring game Saturday at 6 p.m. in Homer Bryce Stadium concluding spring drills. Saturday's scrimmage will give the SFA coaching staff one final opportunity to evaluate the players before they report back for two-a-days in August.
"I've been very pleased with what I've seen from our guys this spring," said head coach J.C. Harper. "We've graduated some guys at some key positions, but the younger guys have really stepped up. Defensively, they are flying around the field getting after the ball. Offensively, our execution has been good."
The purple/white game will consist of four 10 minutes quarters. Senior Jeremy Moses will suit up for the purple squad, while redshirt freshman Brady Attaway will be the starter for the white team.
The defending conference champions return 40 letterwinners from last season, including 16 starters. The Lumberjack defense returns eight starters, but will be looking to replace both defensive ends and all-conference safety Cory Barlow. All-American linebacker Jabara Williams returns to lead the 'Jacks' defense, while the offense is in the hands of All-American quarterback Jeremy Moses.
