Bearkats Slip Past Ladyjacks

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin women's tennis team finished regular season action on Wednesday as they fell to Sam Houston State 4-3. With the loss, SFA ended the regular season 9-10 overall and 4-7 in conference play.
SFA won the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead, but were unable to close as they went 2-4 in the singles competition.
In singles, Alice Pacaut was the only Ladyjack to post a victory defeating Cally Woerner 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot. Due to a Sam Houston State default, the Ladyjacks were also able to record a victory at the No. 6 position.
In doubles, Roxana Enica and Alina Shazhko defeated Tatyana Postikova and Nadia Dubyanskaya 8-5 at No.1. Teammates Paola Montenga and Alice Pacaut fell to Cally Woerner and Sheridan Currie 8-6 at No 2, while Meaghan Ocanas and Tatiana Smolnikova won their match by default at No. 3.
Despite the loss, the Ladyjacks remain one of the top eight conference teams who will be headed to Corpus Christi to compete in the Southland Conference Tournament. The tournament is set to take place April 23-25th.
