Ladyjack Golf Unable to Recover from Second-Round Struggles

VICTORIA, Texas - After a sterling performance in the opening round of the Claud Jacobs Invitational Sunday afternoon, the SFA Ladyjacks struggled to a 339 in the second round and were unable to recover despite a strong finish. Stephen F. Austin fired a 323 Monday afternoon to finish 13th overall (319-339-323 - 981).
The Ladyjacks were led by freshman Wallis Speared who recovered from an 86 in the second round to shoot a team-low two-over par Monday. She finished the tournament tied for 19th overall. Classmate Chelsea Simmons posted a 77-84-80 - 241 to finish tied for 34th overall.
Junior Noelle Willcoxon was six strokes back of Simmons' pace. Willcoxon carded an 88 in the final round to finish tied for 55th overall with a 247. Freshman Allison Flake shot an 89-88-81 - 258 to finish tied for 72nd overall, while classmate Erin Daurity recorded an 87-96-91 - 274.
The Ladyjacks will take three weeks off before returning to action Monday, April 5-6, in the HBU Intercollegiate in Houston, Texas.
