NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Prep standout Blake Pugh has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his education and play golf at Stephen F. Austin announced head coach Trey Schroeder Monday afternoon.
"I expect Blake to come in and help us immediately," said Schroeder. "He is a very talented player that we expect big things from. I feel very fortunate to have Blake as a part of the Lumberjack family."
Pugh's signing is key to a Lumberjack roster that is losing two talented seniors following the 2010-11 season. Pugh will be counted on to step in and immediately compete for one of the spots on the roster.
Pugh has several individual accomplishments in addition to being part of a successful high school program at Southlake Carroll. He has wins at the Texas-Oklahoma Junior Championships, Texas Legends Match Play and multiple Texas Junior Golf Tour events. During his junior season Pugh won the district championship earning all-region and all-state honors. He guided the Dragons to a second-place finish at the 2010 5A state championship tournament.
Throughout Pugh's junior career he posted seven individual victories. He recorded a low tournament round of 67 at Bent Tree Country Club earlier this season. -SFA-
