NEW YORK - Just 24 hours after being named to the Walter Camp All-America team, senior Jeremy Moses and sophomore Gralyn Crawford have been named to the AP All-America squad, along seniors Jabara Williams and Kenneth Charles. Moses and Crawford earned first-team honors, while Charles and Williams garnered third-team recognition.
Already a member of the 2010 AFCA and Walter Camp All-America teams, Moses guided the nation's top-ranked passing offense for a second consecutive season. The Lumberjacks finished the season with a 9-3 overall record, winning their second-straight Southland Conference title and making a return trip to the NCAA FCS playoffs. The two-time SLC Player of the Year, Moses guided SFA to a 9-3 record and another Southland Conference title.
Moses capped his senior season by becoming the school and Southland Conference all-time leading passer. Moses led the nation in completions (28 pg), passing yards (333.2 ypg) and passing touchdowns (34) in 2010.
Moses added one final record to his career numbers in his final game as a Lumberjack. He completed 33 passes in the playoff game against Villanova, but he became the NCAA FCS all-time leader in completions with his 18th of the game.
Joining Moses on the first team is one of his favorite targets. Crawford, a Walter Camp All-America selection, received first-team all-purpose player honors Wednesday. A two-way threat for the Lumberjacks in 2010, Crawford was recognized as one top receivers in the conference. He earned first-team all-conference honors from the H receiver spot, and as a return specialist. Crawford hauled in a team-high 74 receptions for 981 yards and five touchdowns in 2010.
Crawford finished the year ninth in the country averaging better than 28 yards per return. He also tied for tops in the nation with three kickoffs returned for scores. He also returned one punt for a touchdown. A multiple recipient of conference and national special teams player of the week awards, Crawford's most outstanding performance came during the second week of the season when he returned a kick and a punt for touchdowns against Albany.
The Lumberjack defense was represented on the third team by Williams and Charles. A three-time first-team All-SLC selection, and the 2010 SLC Defensive Player of the Year selection, Williams closed out his SFA career by finishing second on the team and fifth in the conference with 108 total tackles. A Buck Buchanan Award recipient each of the past two seasons, Williams was also credited for 6.5 tackles for losses, 1.5 sacks, four pass breakups, three fumble recoveries and an interception.
Charles was moved from his interior lineman spot to end prior to the start of the 2010 season, and immediately received preseason All-America hype. Charles backed up the preseason accolades with his performance on the field. A first-team all-conference selection, Charles recorded 65 tackles and led the league in tackles for losses (19.5) and sacks (11.5). Both marks placed among the nation's top 20. Charles also forced four fumbles on the season.
This group of Lumberjacks helped SFA record a historical season. The 2010 campaign marked the first time in program history at SFA has won back-to-back conference titles.
