’JACKS CLOSE OUT REGULAR SEASON WITH CONSECUTIVE HOME GAMES: The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack (7-2/4-1 SLC) football team returns to Nacogdoches to host Southeastern Louisiana. The Lumberjacks enter Saturday's contest winning seven of their last eight, and are coming off a 48-13 thumping over Nicholls. The Lions are 2-7 on the season, and tied for sixth in the Southland Conference with a 1-4 league record. Southeastern Louisiana enters the game having dropped four consecutive, and six of their last seven. SLU is coming off a 35-16 setback at Northwestern State. Saturday's game against Southeastern Louisiana is slated for a 2 p.m. kick. SFA vs. the LIONS: The Lumberjacks are 7-5-1 (.577) all-time against Southeastern Louisiana, and have had quite a bit of success lately. SFA has won two consecutive games in the series and three of the last four. The ’Jacks are 1-2 (.333) against Southeastern Louisiana in Nacogdoches dating back to the 1981 season. The lone victory during that stretch saw the Lumberjacks rally from a 28-point first quarter deficit, and a 24-point second half lead.
HOME SWEET HOMER: The Lumberjacks have turned Homer Bryce Stadium into one of the toughest places for opponents to play. The Lumberjacks have won nine of their last 10 games at home dating back to the 2009 home opener, despite dropping a three-point decision last time out.
GAME CHANGERS: The Lumberjacks recorded three plays of at least 61 yards against Nicholls. With 3:11 remaining in the second quarter senior Jeremy Moses found Cordell Roberson for a 73-yard TD reception, SFA converted a fake punt for 61 yards and sophomore Gralyn Crawford returned a kick 99 yards for score.
CONFERENCE'S ALL-TIME LEADING PASSER: Senior quarterback Jeremy Moses has become the league's all-time leading passer during his senior season. He now owns the league's record for career completions, touchdown passes, pass yards and yards of total offense. He also became the first player in league history to record 11,000 career passing yards and yards of total offense and 1,000 completions. AMONG THE FCS ALL-TIME BEST: Senior quarterback Jeremy Moses is among the all-time greatest quarterbacks in FCS history. The ’Jacks' gunslinger is 14th all-time at the FCS level in total offense (11,995), ninth all-time in passing yards (12,301), tied for sixth all-time in touchdown passes (113) and forth all-time in completions (1,099).
THE COACHES: J.C. Harper became the 18th head coach of the SFA Lumberjack football team in December 2006, following two seasons as the team's defensive coordinator. Harper was named the 2009 SLC Coach of the Year after guiding SFA to it's first conference crown in 10 years. The title came only two years following an 0-11 season. Harper is 21-24 (.467) in three seasons as a head coach. Southeastern Louisiana head coach Mike Lucas is 16-30 (.348) in his fourth season with the Lions. The Lions have struggled to a 2-7 (.222) record during the 2010 campaign.
