
Ladyjacks Continue Play in SFA Invitational

NACOGODOCHES, Texas- The SFA women's tennis team made progress in their second day of tournament play.
After picking up two first round wins on Friday, freshman Ksenia Berestetska and sophomore Alice Pacaut continued to dominate their respective singles draws. Berestetska defeated Dubyanskaya 6-3, 0-6, 10-3 in the C draw, while Pacaut picked up her third consecutive two-set win over Van den Bergh 6-4, 6-2 in the D draw. Doubles duo Alina Shazho and Paola Montuenga fell in a close match to Rubesova/Nederostova 8-9 in the quarterfinals.
In the consolation draws, Alina Shazhko pulled out a close victory over Leitz 6-7 (5), 7-6 (3) 10-6 in line A singles. Paola Montuenga fell to Nederestova 6-2, 6-1 in the B singles draw. In line B Doubles, Meaghan Ocanas and Andreea Enica defeated Schulz/Jan 8-4, while teammates Berestetska and Pacaut also won 8-6 in the doubles competition over Van Den Bergh/Perez.
"We had another solid team effort today, and I'm pleased with our performance," said head coach Patrick Sullivan. "We're looking forward to coming out tomorrow and closing the tournament out strong."
The third and final day of the SFA Invitational will begin at 9:00 am on Sunday at the Schlief Tennis Complex.
