'Jacks Struggle in Season Opener

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team shot an opening-day 300-302 - 602 in the first day of competition of the UTA/Watherchase Invitational.
Junior Kyle Robbins leads SFA with a three-over par 147. He opened the day with a 75, but came back in the second round carding an even par 72. Robbins is currently tied for 27th overall. Freshman Mitchell McLeroy shot the second-lowest two-round score for the 'Jacks. He is currently tied for 61st with a 151. Junior Michael Smith struggled in both rounds of the tournament, opening with a five-over par 77 in the opening round, and closing out the day with a four-over 76. He is currently tied for 67th. Sophomore Stetson McMillan is one stroke back of Smith. McMillan finished the day with a 73-81 - 154. Junior Ricky Wilkenfeld shot a two-over 75 in the first round of the day, but labored in the second round closing the day with an 81. He is currently tied for 80th with a 156.
The Lumberjacks will close out the UTA/Waterchase Invitational with the final round of action Tuesday morning. SFA is set to tee off at 8 a.m.
