
SFA Earns Pair Of Home Wins

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Ladyjack tennis team got back in the win column, not once, but twice this week with convincing wins over Oklahoma Christian and Central Arkansas at the Schlief Tennis Complex.
SFA (5-14, 3-6 SLC) swept the Nol. 19 team in the NAIA ranks on Friday in Oklahoma Christian, 7-0, before earning its third conference win of the year with a 5-2 advantage over the Sugar Bears on Saturday.
The No. 1 doubles duo of Alina Shazkho and Roxana Enica moved their season record to 14-5, and is now 7-2 in conference play after picking up a pair of wins on both Friday and Saturday. Against Oklahoma Christian the tandem knocked off Gabriela Natasa and Leila Keihani by an 8-5 count before disposing of the Sugar Bears' Lindsey Mainz and Rebeca Miller, 8-2 on Saturday.
Mary Harrison and Jamie Williams also earned a pair of doubles wins, defeating Catarina Franca and Callie Draelos of OCU, 8-1, as well as an 8-4 winner over Jordan Short and Heidi Miller of UCA.
Against OCU, SFA took all but one set on the afternoon in the 7-0 sweep. Alina Shazkho took another win at No. 1 singles over Olfa Dhoui (6-4, 2-4, retired), while Gabriela Gadeva got a shot at No. 2 singles and responded with a 6-1, 6-3, win over Gabriela Natasa. Sanjana Kapur knocked off Catarina Franca (6-2, 4-6, 11-9) in No. 3 singles, and Jamie Williams, Andreea Enica and Mary Harrison all also responded with straight-set wins in 3-through-6 singles.
On Saturday, Shazkho and Roxana Enica each won their matches with straight-set ease. Shazkho doing so in No. 1 singles over Petra Keilova (6-0, 6-2) and Enica over Rebecca Miller (6-0, 6-0) in No. 2 singles. Gadeva and Sanjana Kapur made sure the Ladyjacks swept the first four singles matches with wins over Lisa Mainz (6-0, 6-3) by Gadeva and over Rebecca McCullough (6-1, 6-0) by Kapur.
SFA next hosts Northwestern State on Wednesday at home before going to Southeastern Louisiana to close out the conference season.
