Ladyjack Golf Finishes 6th at SHSU Invite

HUNTSVILLE, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin women's golf team finished sixth overall at the rain-shortened Sam Houston State Invitational Tuesday afternoon in Huntsville, Texas. The Ladyjacks finished the tournament with a two-round score of 332-329 - 661.
"I'm proud of how our women's team came out and played today," said head coach Trey Schroeder. "We're young, and have areas we need to get better at, but we can see improvements everyday. Wallis (Spears) played very well, breaking 80 each round."
Spears led SFA with her two-round score of 75-78 - 153 to finish tied for 12th overall. Junior Noelle Willcoxen fired the second-lowest score for the Ladyjacks finishing tied for 28th overall (80-82 - 162). Freshman Chelsea Simmons cut four strokes off her opening round score carding an 87-83 - 170 to place 37th overall. Classmate Allison Flake had a similar second round finishing four strokes better in the second round. Flake finished the tournament 39th with a 90-86 - 176.
The Ladyjacks will be back in action Monday, Oct. 26th, when they travel to Pinehurst, N.C., when they compete in the Ross Resorts invitational.
