
SFA Signs First Women's Golfer

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Noelle Willcoxon signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her education at Stephen F. Austin announced golf coach Trey Schroeder Thursday afternoon. Willcoxon becomes the program's first signee since it was announced the university would be adding a women's golf team in May.
"Noelle is going to be a great player for us over the next few years," said Schroeder. "She has the experience and attitude that we need in a player to begin an NCAA Division I women's golf program. Noelle understands that this will be a brand new program and looks forward to the challenge."
A transfer from McClennan Community College, Willcoxon spent her rookie season at Lon Morris College where she was one of the top golfers at the junior college level. She recorded a second-place finish at the NJCAA Region XIV tournament, and advanced to the NJCAA National Championships. Willcoxon finished ninth over at the NJCAA Championships, earning second-team All-America honors.
During her prep career, Willcoxon was a four-time junior club champion. She recorded a fourth-place finish at the district championships during her senior season.
