NACOGDOCHES - Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack football team received a small break from the East Texas heat Friday morning as they wrapped up a morning workout. With the battle for the backup quarterback spot heating up, sophomore Jeremy Moses spent the majority of the time on the sideline while junior Duane Brooks, and freshmen Dalton Williams and Neil Warden were taking the majority of the snaps.
The team will spend the rest of the day in meetings before returning to the practice field for a 7 p.m. workout. The evening session will be the last practice before SFA takes to the field Saturday for their second scrimmage.
The scrimmage will be a white vs. purple format with 15-minute quarters, with officials participating. The scrimmage is slated to begin at 7 p.m. from Homer Bryce Stadium.
The Lumberjack offense looked strong in the opening scrimmage piling up more than 500 yards of total offense. Moses, Williams, and Warden were strong distributing the football around the field, while Moses led the way completing 82 percent of his passes for 245 yards and three touchdowns.
