Gadeva Named To Academic First Team

FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis player Gabriela Gadeva has been named one of 12 student-athletes named to the Capital One Academic All-Southland Conference team, league officials announced on Monday.
Gadeva earned first team honors for the first time after being named to the second team in 2007. She was also recently named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team as well.
Student-athletes must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average, while being a starter or significant reserve on their respective teams. Nominated athletes are also required to complete one full year at their institution prior to the season in which they are nominated.
Gadeva, a Hospitality Administration major, split her time between Nos. 3 and 4 singles where she finished the season with an 8-10 overall record. She also teamed up with Tatiana Smolnikova to win six doubles matches, the most of any Ladyjack tandem. Her efforts helped to lead the Ladyjacks to a berth in the SLC Tournament as well.
