Pasteur Earns Preseason All-America Honor

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior offensive lineman Brock Pasteur has been named 2007 Third-Team Preseason All-America by the Sports Network announced Thursday afternoon. Pasteur becomes the second Lumberjack to receive preseason honors, joining junior linebacker Damian Perkins who was named second-team preseason All-America by Lindy's Magazine last month.
Pasteur transferred to SFA just prior to the 2006 season opener. He took over a starting role in the 'Jacks' first game, and started the final 10 games of the season. Pasteur went on to earn second-team All-Southland Conference honors after helping produce one of the top running backs in the league, and protected a first-team all-league selection at quarterback. The honor comes on the heels of Pasteur earning preseason first-team All-Southland Conference honors.
The 'Jacks have been able to carry some of their momentum from the end of the 2006 season into the early part of 2007. After winning four of their final six games to finish second in the SLC last year the Lumberjacks are listed among the `others receiving votes' category in the Sports Network's Preseason FCS Top 25 poll. SFA received 80 points in the poll sitting just outside the top 25.
The Lumberjacks kickoff the 2007 season Saturday, Sept. 1, when they host Tarleton State. The game against the Texans is slated to begin at 6 p.m. from Homer Bryce Stadium.
