
2007 Season Ends for Lumberjacks

NATCHITOCHES, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks 2007 campaign came to an end Friday afternoon as they suffered a 7-0 shutout against the Texas State Bobcats to be eliminated from Southland Conference Championship Tournament at Brown-Stroud Field in Natchitoches, La. SFA finished the season with a 31-28 overall record in 2007 compared to a 15-41 record in 2006.
Bobcat starter Mike Hart held the Lumberjacks to just three hits as he threw a full nine innings. The base hits came from Chris Smith and Steven Hill, who collected two. Smith and Hill both reached the base paths twice as Smith was issued a walk in the fourth. Hill led off with a double in the bottom of the ninth and was the first base runner to reach third
Five different SFA pitchers were sent to the hill with starter Lance Luetge (7-5) suffering the loss after giving up five runs in 1 1/3 innings.
