WICHITA, Kansas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team shot a final-round 316 to finish 13th overall at the Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic Tuesday afternoon in Wichita. Junior Chad Spencer led the Lumberjacks with a three-round score of 73-74-77 - 224. Spencer's third-round 77 was also the 'Jacks' lowest round of the day.
Diboll freshman Matthew Oates recorded a 79 to finish with a two-day score of 232. Oates' score placed him 47th overall. Sophomore Josh Irving battled back from his second-round 84 to close out the tournament with a final-round 79. Irving finished tied for 66th overall with a three-round score of 238. Senior James Winkley shot a 75-85-81 - 241 to finish tied for 74th overall. Freshman Richard Wilkenfeld struggled in the final round finishing the day with a three-round 75-83-89 - 247. Wilkenfeld finished the Shocker Classic tied for 82nd.
The Diet Pepsi Shocker Classic marked the team's last competition before the conference tournament. The 'Jacks will travel to Kerrville, Texas Monday, April 16, to compete in the SLC Championships. The championships will begin Monday and run through Wednesday, April 18.
