
'Jacks Fall to Eighth at the SLC Championships

KERRVILLE, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team wrapped up the 2007 Southland Conference Championships Wednesday afternoon by recording its best round of the tournament, but fell one spot to McNeese State. The 'Jacks shot a 299 to finish with a three-day score of 917, but fell to eighth place in the standings.
Freshman Ricky Wilkenfeld led SFA by shooting a three-day 79-74-74 - 227 to finish tied for 29th overall. Junior Chad Spencer recorded a 80-75-74 - 229 to place 33rd overall. Classmate Matt Oates was only two strokes back of Spencer finishing tied for 35th overall with a 231. Sophomore Josh Irving recorded a three-day 234 to place 40th. Senior James Winkley posted his best round of the tournament Wednesday shooting a 75 to finish tied for 42nd overall.
