
'Jacks Fall to 15th on Final Day of Competition

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - After posting consecutive sub-300 rounds on Monday, the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team recorded a final-round 308 Tuesday afternoon in the UALR/First Tee Collegiate. The 'Jacks were led by junior Chad Spencer who finished the tournament with a three-day score of 74-72-76 - 222. Spencer finished tied for 41st overall.
Senior Ryan Salinas tied Spencer for the best SFA round of the afternoon carding a third-round 76 to finish three strokes back. Salinas finished tied for 51st overall. Freshman Matthew Oates recorded a six-over par 78 Tuesday to finish with a three-round score of 227. Oates finished tied for 60th. Sophomore Josh Irving recorded the Lumberjacks' fourth-best round of the tournament. Irving shot a 76-73-81 - 230 to finish 71st overall. Freshman Ricky Wilkenfeld was only a stroke back of Irving after carding a 231 for the tournament. He was tied for 72nd overall.
The Lumberjacks return to action Monday April 2, when they travel to Wichita, Kansas, to compete in the Diet Pepsi Shocker Golf Classic. The tournament, hosted by Wichita State, is a three-round tournament that will run through Tuesday.
